The new Vicky Chair from Italcomma has become the new poster child of the modern bentwood chair. Using a similar bentwood chair base developed by Michael Thonet over 150 years ago, the Vicky bentwood chair uses a slightly different back leg to give it a more contemporary appeal. The back uses a modern horizontal support, whereas most of the classic Thonet bentwood chairs used a vertical bracing in the back.
The arms of the Vicky Armchair are truly unique as three pieces of bentwood are used to provide a back brace, side brace and arm brace. The Vicky bentwood chair can offer even more flair through specifying one of Italcomma’s designer colors as a lacquer for the frame, while keeping the lower part of the legs exposed. It is an idea presented by Gebruder Thonet that works well with the Vicky.
Ideally used in a kitchen, dining areaa, or cafes, the Vicky bentwood chair could easily find itself as the modern day version of the famed A14 bentwood chair.
