As Father Time and Baby New Year begin to anticipate the arrival of 2018, so do interior designers who have made some rather surprising predictions in the field of home décor.   • Beige and brown will make a glorious return: Grey was in for 2017 and although experts say that it will not totally disappear in the New Year, warmer earth tones like beige and brown will begin to trend again. Along with these colors warm neutrals, gold, and organics will also dominate 2018.
  • Lavender: Known as “Millennial pink” by some designers, lavender and lilac will be making a small return in the New Year. According to Nancy Fire, creative director of HGTV HOME, people are beginning to appreciate how it helps bring out soft tones.
  • Furniture with soft edges is back: Furniture with hard, boxy lines will continue to inspire some designers says Joe Human or Designs by Human. However, Human predicts that 2018 will also see the return of furniture with soft, flowing edges.
  • Patterned flooring: Patterns give flooring a modernistic look. Modern classic furniture will fit right along with this trend in flooring which emphasizes patterns and lines.
  • Natural wood elements; There are few materials that give living spaces a more down-to-earth look than wood. Some designers predict that people will continue to explore the design
  • possibility of this organic and practical material.
  • Brass Accents: Some experts predict that designers will begin to move away from brushed silver accents and move towards using brass accents.
  • Metallic finishes: Furniture with metallic finishes tends to lighten and brighten rooms through the use of reflectivity. Some designers believe that steel and aluminum in particular will be in heavy use in the New Year.
